Dizziness is a problem. Alone, dizziness can be frustrating,
but it can also alter balance and lead to falls.
Dizziness with associated cervical spine disc degeneration can be
a problem for folks of an older age. Manahawkin Chiropractic Center shares
new research about chronic neck pain and its link
to dizziness as well as the role Manahawkin chiropractic care contributes
in neck pain relief and oftentimes
related dizziness.
CERVICAL SPINE DISC DEGENERATION AND DIZZINESS
Patients with chronic neck pain due
to cervical degenerative disease often have dizziness as well
as neck pain. Many already-published studies, both clinical and
basic science, detail the relationship of cervical
disc degeneration and dizziness. A new study indicated that cervicogenic general dizziness was diagnosed in 89% of these patients. Inappropriate neck postures
over long periods of time may be a factor
when there is existing degenerative cervical disc disease. Men and women have separate
triggers for their dizziness. For example, farming, gardening, and
weeding may cause general dizziness, particularly
in older women. (1) Surgeons reporting on a new
surgical approach to relieving chronic neck pain explained
that current clinical and immunohistochemical studies strongly suggested
that chronic neck pain and intractable dizziness came from degenerated
cervical spine discs. The dizziness ensued with only
cervical disc degeneration alone without cervical radiculopathy or myelopathy.
(2) Such cervical spine degenerative disc disease also has been found to be accompanied by inflammation, particularly
inflammatory cytokines that trigger mechanoreceptors like the
Ruffini corpuscles in degenerated discs resulting in
dizziness. The good news: a majority of patients
with cervical disc disease and associated dizziness report
that conservative treatment is effective for them. (3) Manahawkin Chiropractic Center is the home for
conservative chiropractic care of Manahawkin neck pain and degenerated
cervical discs.
CHIROPRACTIC CONSERVATIVE CARE FOR
DIZZINESS
An Australian study of chiropractic care
of neck pain patients who also experienced dizziness found
that chiropractic is frequently used by these
patients to handle their neck pain. One in five people over age 70
years suffered with neck pain. 57.3% of chiropractors said
that the neck pain and related dizziness was quite
responsive to their chiropractic conservative care. (4) Manahawkin Chiropractic Center uses
the Cox® Technic System of Spinal Pain Management in treating cervical disc degeneration
and its related Manahawkin neck pain.
